LIGHT — Dynamic Lighting

Coordinate Category: Dynamic Illumination & Active Lighting Physics
Status: Tier 2 Specialized Directorial Coordinate

1. Purpose & Functional Role

[LIGHT] commands active in-scene lighting transitions, moving light sources, practical light interactions, strobes, fluctuating shadows, and real-time volumetric luminance shifts interacting with subjects or the environment.

2. Orthogonality & Scoping Boundary

  • In [AESTHETIC]: Static base lighting setup (e.g., Lighting: High-contrast chiaroscuro, warm tungsten key-light with deep charcoal shadows).
  • In [LIGHT]: Active, time-synchronized lighting transformations occurring during the shot (e.g., sweeping headlights, neon tube flickers, candle blowouts, muzzle flash bursts, shadows stretching across faces).
  • In [ENV]: Macro atmospheric weather and natural climate phenomena (e.g., fog, rain, snow).

3. Formatting & Syntax Rules

  • Header / Tag: [LIGHT] on its own Sub-State in the Macro-State -> chain.
  • Description Style: Describe the light source, trajectory, quality, color temperature shift, and tangible impact on subjects or set surfaces:
    • [LIGHT] Harsh white car headlights sweep across John's eyes from frame-L to frame-R
    • [LIGHT] Overhead fluorescent tube hums, flickers violently twice, and dies into deep shadow
    • [LIGHT] Rapid strobe flashes illuminate Samira in jagged high-contrast silhouettes
    • [LIGHT] Warm match flame flares to life in foreground, casting amber glow on Robert's weathered cheek

4. Placement & Chaining in Macro-States

[LIGHT] can be placed: - As a narrative catalyst before actor reactions: [CAM 01] -> [LIGHT] Red emergency beacon begins sweeping the corridor -> [ACT] Felix pivots sharply toward the steel hatch -> [AUDIO] mechanical siren wail - Synchronized with an actor action or practical light switch: [CAM] MCU -> [ACT] Samira flips the brass toggle switch -> [LIGHT] warm vintage lamp pops on, bathing desk in golden 2700K tungsten glow -> [AUDIO] heavy switch click - As an ambient shift across an unbroken take: [CAM 01] -> [ACT] Robert stares out the glass -> [LIGHT] passing subway train casts rhythmic shuttered shadows across Robert's face -> [AUDIO] train roar fading
